It rained most of the morning on Tuesday. That was the third day of rain. I checked the rain gauge (which I not emptied since last Saturday) Wednesday morning and found I had gotten 1 1/2 inches of rain in the past three days.
I made a quick trip to Starbuck's and got a large hot chocolate (with whip) then stopped at the Looney bakery for some powdered sugar donuts (her favorite). Then I dropped both off at Time Out. Dan (one of the owners) was so happy to see me I stayed and ate lunch there. I had a cup of beef noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes on it. Sounds a bit weird, but it really tastes good. Next time I make grilled cheese at home, I'm gonna try it.
Back home, it was way too wet to cut the grass. So, instead, I made the patties for Wednesday night's dinner. I combined 1 1/2 pounds of ground chuck with an egg yolk, 1/4 cup of minced onions, 1/3 cup of Panko bread crumbs, three tablespoons of milk, one clove of minced garlic and salt and pepper to taste.
I divided that into six patties and then browned them over medium heat (about three minutes per side).
I let that all cool down and stuck them in the fridge.
I ate yet another ham and Swiss cheese sandwich (with Italian bread and Kraft Horseradish sauce) and a healthy amount of potato salad for dinner.
Sidebar: You know me and my troubles with deli potato salad. I generally hate it and I don't make it myself as the mayo gets weird after a few days (I don't know how to make a small batch). But somebody (and I forget who) told me about Jack's potato salad. I only found two places that they have it (certainly not my go-to grocery store, Kroger's) but I can get it at VC Market (Six Mile and Inkster). It costs a bit more, but it's worth it. Tastes like homemade!!!
I watched my NCIS shows until bedtime.
Both NCIS"S were pretty good, weren't they!
