Shitty Saturday

It was raining like hell when I woke up on Saturday. I turned on the news and learned that its supposed to rain here like this until around 4:00 p.m. when it will change to freezing rain. Then, the cold front that is making its way down from the UP will freeze all the standing water.

Vicky was supposed to come pick me up this afternoon and take me back to her house. Evy wanted to make me a Puerto Rican dinner. Sounded good. I miss Puerto Rican food! But I sent her a text, telling her I didn't want her to be driving under those conditions (hell, I don't want to even be riding under those conditions). She wasn't mad. Her reply sounded grateful.

Amanda called and I told her to be careful (she has to work tonight). She said not to worry, she'll be fine (She's way too cocky at times).

The lake has returned out in the back. And, my driveway near the road is one big puddle.

The rain lightened up around 2:00 p.m. So, I put my rain coat on, opened the garage door and grabbed my hoe. I went out and, sure enough, the two trenches I had built for draining the end of the driveway were clogged with sticks, old grass and leaves. I cleaned them both out and the water started to run off.

Sidebar: The last thing I needed was to have a sheet of ice just before I have to go up onto the road.

Back inside, I made a salad for a late lunch (I had a bowl of cereal with blue berries for breakfast).

My daughter, Melissa called. She said it was snowing in Oxford. Oddly enough, it stopped raining around 5:00 p.m. I don't know if its all over or just the calm before the next storm.

I washed the bedding and ran the dishwasher.

I watched two old John Wayne movies.

I ate leftovers for dinner.

I watched Blazing Saddles again (first time in a long time). It was still funny as hell.

Then I watched the rest of the hockey game (Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins), the 11:00 p.m. news and then Saturday Night Live. I went to bed at 1:00 a.m.

  1. Rained on and off all day Friday, Saturday was just cold as hell and very very damp....woke up Sunday to beautiful ice on all of my trees, bird feeders, etc. Dear Mother Nature - - where the hell is spring????

  2. I don't care if Caitlyn Jenner identifies as a woman, but April identifying as January is crossing the line!
