Monday Moanin'

I got up with the alarm on Monday. I had a 10:15 a.m. appointment with the infectious disease doctor.

I ate oatmeal for breakfast and then took my pills. I shaved, showered and headed out. The side and main roads were still a mess from last night's snow. But, the expressway was plowed and salted.

I took a book with me, as I had to wait over an hour last time. But, this time I got right in.

Doctor Mehta said that I really, really need to get the IV (the hour and a half one). I said, "Okay, put me back on the program." She said they don't control the IV delivery or the weekly nurse, that company has strict rules and once they kick you out, they won't take you back.

She suggested that I agree to come to their office every day (seven days a week) for the next 6-9 weeks. She said she would have one of her staff get in contact with Blue Cross Blue Shield to see if they would agree to supply them with the drug and then call and let me know.

I asked about my now non-existent pic line. She said she would see what she could do to have a new one installed.

She also said that based on the infection cultures, I still need to take the Ciprofloxacin pills.

Sidebar: That's the one with the side effects that scared me to death.

I was supposed to meet up with Amanda for lunch, but I was discouraged and my legs hurt. So, I just sent her a text message apologizing and went back home.

When I got there, I dragged the trash container out to the road before going inside for good. I figured I was cold anyway so I might as well get it done.

I used Melissa's deli roast beef, cheddar slices and bread to make a sandwich. I ate that and one of her pickles for my lunch.

The afternoon was spent on the phone with Doctor Mehta's office staff as they tried to coordinate things. It ended up I'm scheduled as an outpatient at St. Mary's at 9:00 a.m Tuesday for the pic line and then at 10:00 a.m. for the IV.

I spent most of the day with my legs elevated.

I warmed up some of Melissa's spaghetti and meatballs for my dinner. Delicious! Eat your heart out, brother Carl!!!

I watched some TV but switched to reading at 10:00 p.m.(so I would fall asleep). I have to be up early tomorrow!
