Friday, still in the Polar Plunge...

It was 6 degrees F. when I woke up on Friday. The only good thing was the wind wasn't as bad today as Thursday. I did dig out my scarf, though.

I took in some ham and bean soup, as well as some cheesy potato soup, for Courtney. Which was funny, as she brought me in some broccoli and cheese soup.

My stomach was still a little dicey.

I went to Time Out for lunch, although I wasn't really hungry. They had two kinds of soup: potato and sausage and also bean soup. I got a bowl of the bean soup (thinking the potato and sausage would be too spicy), but couldn't finish it. Amanda (my waitress) was concerned. She thinks I am not eating enough. She sounds like my favorite Chinese waitress (I can say her name, but not spell it) at Ten Yen.

Sidebar: If I am not eating enough, my bathroom scale does not reflect that.

I wished Dan (the owner), Heather (the bartender), Nancy (the other waitress) and Amanda a Merry Christmas when I left. I told Amanda I wouldn't see her next week as I would be out of town. So she gave me a big hug and wished me safe travels. She's a nice kid.

The afternoon passed slowly (as Friday afternoons often do). But, finally, I bundled up and headed home. Jesus, it was cold out there (and its still not even officially winter yet).

I ate Courtney's soup for dinner. It needed salt, but I knew that going in (she's has two kids under three years old, so salt is not an option these days) but it was very good.

Sidebar: When I was a kid, I don't remember my Mother worrying about salt. She seasoned every thing until it tasted good.

Then I started filling out Christmas cards. I was way behind this year...

We were under a Winter Weather Advisory from 7:00 p.m. until noon on Saturday, with predicted 4-7 inches more snow. So, I did keep checking out the windows. But I didn't see any snow until about 11:00 p.m.

I watched the Tonight Show and then went to bed.

I was wondering why our card arrived two days before Christmas proper...

  2. Because your mail system is slow down South, dude!
