It was raining and windy on Thursday when I left for work. The rain came and went, but the wind just got worse and worse all day long.
We had high wind warnings until 9:00 p.m. with sustained
winds of 20 mph and occasional gusts of 45 mph.
I went to Max and Erma’s for lunch. I parked with the truck’s
nose to the west. The wind was from the south and I had to use my leg to force
the drive’s door open (I’m not kidding!)
I had a cup of chicken tortilla soup (I was cold) and the
southern chicken salad with warm honey mustard dressing. Both were delicious.
I took the expressway home after work and, down in the ditch (as I like
to call it), the wind wasn’t as bad.
There was some tree debris in the driveway, but I didn’t see
any large branches in the yard. The power was still on (there have been power
outages here and there from falling limbs on wires) so, all in all, I was
pleased.
I finally remembered to dig out my ice scraper and stick it in the truck. It's supposed to snow on Friday.

Courtney had finally brought in some chicken chili (she’s
been threatening to all week long) so I warmed that up for my dinner. It was
nicely seasoned.
However, later on I learned it was not enough (I was hungry
again). So, I popped some popcorn on the stove and ate that watching TV. I went
to bed at 9:30 p.m.
Sounds like a great chili day and a good weekend for some beef stew.
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely gearing up for chili or beef stew season around here. I wonder if I still have the chops to make those dumpling in the stew like I used too? Man, I loved those dumplings!!!
