Apparently, my GREAT niece, Jamie, is just going to set a bowl of candy outside.

Be that as it may, here's her sign by the bowl:

Finally Friday!!!
It was chilly and cloudy on Friday, but no rain and not much wind.
Vicky and I went to Applebee’s for lunch (her pick). I had
the French onion soup (excellent) and some shrimp scampi (eh). She had some
kind of sizzler chicken with onions and mushrooms and a side of roasted
potatoes (excellent, BTW. She insisted I try one).
Sidebar: French onion soup is something you only can order
if you know your dining partner really well! The stringy melted cheese ends up
making you look like a damn fool, especially if you have a beard.
After work, I treated the cat and changed clothes. Then I
took the night off. I reheated the rest of the mash potatoes, gravy and
chicken. I steamed some frozen sweet corn and made a repeat of last night’s dinner.
I watched some TV and then went to bed at 9:30 p.m.

Birthday Shoutout!
Happy birthday to my firstborn, Amy Beth Petersen!!!
Thursday…
It had stopped raining on Thursday morning. But it was cold and the wind had picked up remarkably! So, the truck rocked on the drive into work.
I walked outside both in the morning and the afternoon, but
I didn’t like it.
I had something to do at lunch, so I stopped at an Arby’s
and got a roast beef sandwich (with horsey sauce), curly fries and a small
coke. Back at work, I ate it and it was as good as always.
Back home after work, the wind was still wicked.
I watched the news for a while and then started dinner. I still
need to use up the leftover chicken, but I thought I’d kick it up a notch. So,
I peeled and cubed two big russet potatoes. I put them on to boil while I
heated up a jar of chicken gravy.
I used the microwave to steam some sweet corn kernels and
some chicken on a piece of sourdough bread. Then I mashed the potatoes with
heavy cream (I had a little left) and butter.
I assembled my plate, added butter and salt to the sweet
corn and then poured some of the gravy on the potatoes and the open face chicken
sandwich.
It was an excellent leftover dinner!!!
I finally had enough dishes to start the dishwasher. So, I
did.
Then I watched some taped TV.
Sidebar: The new cable box allows me to just pass the restart
of the show after a commercial and it snaps back to the actual start. Jake and
Carla’s Brighthouse does that and I was always jealous. Now I can do it, too!
I went to bed around 10:00 p.m.

Wet Wednesday
I overslept on Wednesday. I woke up at 2:30 a.m. and couldn’t
fall back asleep until almost 5:00. I woke up at 7:00 a.m. after sleeping
through the alarm. So, I sent my boss a text that said, “I’m running late!” She
replied, “Me, too!”
It was raining like hell when I drove in to work.
I went to lunch in the rain at Big Boy. I tried a new menu
item, a half sandwich (I chose Italian), a cup of soup (broccoli) and some spring
greens with raspberry vinaigrette. It was pretty good, but messy.
It had momentarily stopped raining when I went home. So, I
went out back and got in the rain gauge. At that point, I already had over one
and a half inches of rain!
I made a chicken sandwich for my dinner and ate that with a bowl
of my chicken noodle soup.
I did the Wednesday night wash and then watched some taped
TV. But I was asleep by 10:00 p.m.
I woke up for a bathroom break around 1:00 a.m. and it was raining again.
