Tuesday’s weather was more of the same.
I went to Newburgh Grill and got the #4 (a cup of soup and a
gyro). Then I went to Lowe’s and got eight bags of shredded cedar mulch. These
were bigger bags (3 cubic feet as opposed to Home Depot’s 2 cubic feet) and I
had a lot of trouble getting them on the cart.
So, I asked the checkout girl if I could get some help
loading them in the truck.
Sidebar: At Home Depot, they have guys working in the garden
section who offer to help you.
She told me to pull the truck over, so I did. Then she
walked out and helped me load!
I told her, “I didn’t me you.” She said, “Oh, I don’t mind.
It saves me a trip to the gym.”
But, I felt stupid.
When I got home after work, I changed clothes. Instead of
working on the mulch, I started watering. I put two gallons of water on
everything I planted or transplanted this year. Then I did the hanging plants.
It was 6:45 p.m. by the time I finished.
So, I worked inside. I got the stepladder and got the plastic
sleeve out of the top of the bi-fold door by using a screwdriver and the
needle-nose pliers. I put in the new sleeve and plunger (or whatever you call
it) and got the door working again.
By the time I got everything put away, Jeopardy was on. So,
again I didn’t make my planned dinner. Instead, I made a tuna fish sandwich.
This time I went with my sister-in-law Kathy’s suggestion
(after tasting my beets). She said she always puts horseradish in her tuna
sandwiches. So, I put in one tablespoon of horseradish and one tablespoon
mayonnaise. It was excellent!
I watched TV until 10:00 p.m. and then went to bed.
A gyro sounds so good right now. You're making me hungry.

Huh? You asked for help. You got help. Where's the "stupid" part?
@ Carla: Eat your heart out!!!
ReplyDelete@ Jyl: She walked away from the register, leaving three or four customers just standing there, wondering WTF? That's why I felt stupid. Home Depot deploys guys, not holding other people up.
Any plans for a soaker hose hookup in this garden of yours or are you just saying "bucket!"
ReplyDeleteLOL! No, no spigot up front.
