The rain last night seemed to have cooled things off a bit,
but there was standing water on the roads as I drove into work.
I took the iris in the back of the truck and gave them to Vicky.
I went to lunch with Vicky and my boss. We all ordered the
fish and chips. We ate and talked mostly about work (of course). It still didn’t
feel all that hot yet.
But, when I walked at 3:00 p.m., it damn sure did.
My boss sent both Fred and me home at 3:30 p.m. A lot of
people took today off, so there was nothing much going on. Neither one of us
complained, LOL!
This time, I didn’t run outside and work after changing my
clothes. I have been ignoring the inside of the house all week, so I thought I
should give it some attention.
I washed the stovetop and put the grates back on (they’ve
been sitting in the dishwasher for two days – see what I mean?). I washed the
kitchen counter and sorted through the stack of mail that’s been building up on
the table.
I watched the news when it came on. When I got hungry, I ate
the last of the goulash.
I didn’t feel like watching TV, so I read in the living room
(with Caley on my lap) until I started nodding off. Then I shut off the light
and went to bed.
That's why you never take a vacation day on the day before a long weekend. Take it on the day after when everyone is running around freaking out about what happened while they were off!
