Picnic in the Park

So, Friday was our annual department picnic. We did something different this year and rented a pavilion in Hines Park. The company bought fried chicken and everyone brought a dish to pass.

Several people commented on my beets. I still had half a bowl left, but my boss asked if she could take them home. Her husband loves beets and she wanted him to try them. I readily agreed, not wanted to eat beets all weekend.

Some of the guys threw a football around and others kicked a soccer ball. It was warm, but there was a nice breeze.

Courtney came with her new baby, Christian, and I got to hold him for a while. Michelle also came and she showed me her new truck (this one has running boards!)

Back at work, we put the rest of the leftovers on two tables for the other people in the building to eat. At the end of the day, Vicky took everything left (except for the potato salad – I advised her to throw it out). She was going to a family get together at her Aunt’s. But, in helping her carry the food out to the car and then taking down the folding tables, I forgot to take the plate I’d fixed for my dinner and put in the fridge!

I paid some bills online while listening to the news. Then I watered the front container gardens and the roses. When I got hungry later on, I made some tuna and peas and served it on egg noodles.

I went to bed early. It had been a long day.
