I owe, I owe, so off to work I go…

I went back to work on Wednesday. It was cool here and I don’t mean cool as compared to SC. It was cool compared to when I left. It got down in the 50’s overnight and I had slept with the window opened.

Unfortunately, we had a major network problem and there was no internet. Now you might be thinking, “Oh, poor employees! You can’t get on Facebook or check your bank balance.” But, since we now use Office 365, that meant no email, either. And, after three business days off, that was a problem.

But, I endeavored to persevere!

I went in the back and got a laptop out of stock. I took it up front, logging in and then linked it to Fred’s CradlePoint. Bingo!!!

I had 130 unread emails. About two thirds were sales pitches, white papers vendors thought I would want to read, etc. I deleted those. But, I started working through the real ones.

About 11:30 a.m., the internet came back up. So, I took the laptop back (I hate them) and worked on my trusty desktop.

I went to Time Out for lunch and had an excellent creamy potato soup and a godawful turkey Rueben (hey, it sounded interesting…)

The afternoon passed quickly as I was still playing catch-up.

Back home, I was still playing catch-up. So, I dumped the clay kitty litter (I always fill three litter trays with the cheap stuff when I go away) on the horseshoe pits.

Why? Because horseshoe pits are supposed to be clay. Thankfully, I don’t have clay soil here.

I went and got a shovel out of the shed and worked it in.

That’s when I noticed that the damn lawn service broke the handle I had handmade for the horse shoes and Frisbee cabinet I also made and hung on a tree. Dammit!

I also noticed the guy who was supposed to clean up the debris in back and haul it to the dump missed some small stuff. Oh well, I can deal with that.

Back inside, I unpacked my suitcase.

When I got hungry, I went in search of some canned chili. But, the only ones I had left were the “Hot” ones I bought for Jake’s mac & cheese recipe. So, I warmed up one of those and added cheddar cheese to moderate the heat.

I watched TV for a bit and then switched to reading before going to bed.

  1. The lawn service people have gone to hell in a hand basket. Sorry about handle.

  2. You could use your Game Trail Camera to keep an “eye” on your stuff when you know the lawn service folks are coming, just a suggestion.

  3. @ Carla: ikr?

    @ Jyl: They'd probably steal it... :(
