I just saw a recipe that called for rice bran oil. I thought I was living on the edge when I used canola oil for it's high smoke point. What the fuck is rice bran oil?

Seriously, I am getting too old for this sh*t. My mother made absolutely delicious meals frying things in either lard, Criso or butter.

  1. What are the properties of rice bran oil?

  2. Rice bran oil is the oil extracted from the germ and inner husk of rice. It has a high smoking point but not worth buying. It is supposedly "healthy" but it isn't really. Rice bran oil does not have the omega 3 fatty acid ratios that say an olive oil has. So in closing don't buy this shit cause it ain't worth the hype! Party! This information brought to you in part by Carla (the food God).

  3. @ Jake: I don't know
@ Carla: Thank you. But one minor correction: you are NOT the food god! You, my dear, are a goddess!

  4. Yes, Carla is the Goddess.....
New study says Lard is the way to go....No longer being blamed for clogged arteries, etc. So...once again, Mom was right

  5. She always was... It's kind of annoying...

  6. Thanks Uncle Carl! I do like to think of myself this way. Also, dad not so much annoying as awesome! :)
