Hump Day

It was slightly raining when I went to work on Wednesday. Just after I walked into the building, it poured like hell (thank you, rain gods!)

It stayed gloomy all day and I hate that. I'm from Michigan, so I don't mind cold, snow, rain or hail (well, I didn't like the hail that dimpled my Buick La Saber's roof), but I hate gloomy days. It depresses me and I'm already depressed enough!

I went to Time Out for a quick lunch. I got another of Bob's fantastic soups: Peppered Beef. It was great!

Sidebar; I think I mentioned this before, but I asked him once for the recipe of one of his soups and he looked at me like I was from outer space. He said he had no recipes, he just makes them up!

I also got two hot dogs with onions on the side. Sounds boring, right? NOT! They are natural casing dogs, fried on the grill. They also slap the buns on the grill until they are toasted. So, its a crunchy, tasty treat. I topped them with yellow mustard and raw onions.

Sidebar: No mustard went up my nose.

From there, I went to Larry's Foodland grocery store. I got two baking potatoes, a bag of Yukon Gold potatoes and a jar of Prego Original pasta sauce.

Back at work, the gloomy afternoon passed slowly.

But, finally I headed home. I got caught by a train on Inkster, so I got home later than usual.

I treated Caley (my normal amount) and then changed my shoes.

I went out back and refilled the feeders. I didn't have any suet (Larry's Foodland doesn't carry them) so the woodpecker is sh*t out of luck. While I was out there, I snipped a handful of the emerging chives for one of my recipes.

Back inside, I changed clothes and started the Wednesday wash.

Then I went to the pantry in the garage. My original idea was to bake the potatoes, and the pantry items (the two sweet potatoes and a large butternut squash).

But, the squash was rotten and the two sweet potato were mushy. Damn!

Now I was even more depressed...

So, I gave up on dinner completely and ate some Triscuits and cheddar cheese.

I went to bed (depressed) at 8:30 p.m.

  1. You need a friend, John. Don’t Nicolette any of these, eh?

  2. Ummm, I don't think so, but thanks.

  3. What if you had Professor Longhair's Go To The Mardi Gras available, so you could play it when feeling down?

  4. Sigh. I hate to be that girl but did you Google it? I think you will recognize it.

  5. I did Google it and you're right! Can't stay down with that music. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

  6. See John? “If you try sometimes, you might find, you can [Google] what you need”.

  7. @ Jyl: I try NOT to Google. It's too geeky for old guys...
