A Blustery Day… Thanks, Winnie the Pooh!

It was freakin’ cold on Tuesday and windy. I found that out the hard way when I took the trash can out to the road. I also set the two garbage bags of backyard trash out, but I nestled them against the trashcan so they wouldn’t blow away.

Then I drove to work through light rain (or, like sprinkles, really). The winds buffeted the truck. Plus, it was really cold (in the 30’s)

The wind, cold and the overcast sky forced me to walk inside in the morning. We had a high wind advisory for the whole day until 7:00 p.m. (30 mph sustained winds with gusts projected up to 50 mph).

I learned the truth of that when I went to lunch at the Newburgh Grill. I couldn’t open the damn truck door against the wind! I finally used my left foot to force the door open.

I was cold and had already decided to just get a bowl of the bean and ham soup (Tuesday only). Just my luck, they didn’t make it today. Sigh…

Sidebar: I get that. Depending on the leftovers, the specialty soup gets made. The only two soups you can depend on are lemon chicken and rice (bad) and chicken dumpling soup (even worse). But the beef and vegetable soup isn’t that bad (you will need to add salt, though).

So, I got a cup of the beef vegetable soup and a grilled ham and cheese. Back at work, I read a book until 1:00 p.m.

I walked inside again in the afternoon (the wind still seriously sucked).

I left work at 5:00 p.m. and fought the steering wheel all the way home. I stopped at the Chinese take-out next to CVS and got some chicken fried rice. Back at home, I retrieved the trash can and the lid (which was across the street) and then went inside to treat Caley.

I watched the news until 7:00 p.m.  Then I switched on the Red Wings . After a bit, I warmed up the chicken fried rice and had a delicious dinner.

It was an excellent playoff game, with the wings beating the Lightening 3-0. Then I went to bed.

  1. That's odd. Normally blustery days are on Windsdays.
