According to the weather forecast, the snow was supposed to start after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. At 7:15, I took the three trash bags out to the road and it was already snowing!

We had about two inches of snow by 10:00 a.m. It was supposed to start freezing rain about noon, but that started around 11:00 a.m. When I went out to lunch, I had about 1/8-inch of ice covering the truck!

Luckily, the snow hadn’t melted off the windshield (the truck was facing north and the rain was from the south), so the windshield was the only window I didn’t have to scrape. 10 minutes later, I left for lunch.

However, the backup sensors were still covered with ice, so they thought I was just about to hit something and were screaming at me!

The roads were treacherous, but I had it in four-wheel drive. I only went to Time Out, my closest restaurant. I got a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a mushroom-Swiss burger. Both were excellent! Then I slowly made my way back to work.

When I left work at 5:00 p.m., it was raining. The side roads were bad, but the main roads and the expressway were just slushy.

When I got onto San Jose (and back into four-wheel drive) I stopped and got the mail I noticed the trashed trashcan was still there! I was p*ssed!

But when I walked out to retrieve it, I understood why. My carefully attached “Please Throw Me Away” signs were covered in snow and ice. Damn!

I put it in the truck bed. I’ll throw it away at work, tomorrow.

Inside, I changed clothes after treating the cat. Then I watched the news.

I warmed up the last of the pork chop, more mashed potatoes and rutabagas. I also warmed up some jarred pork gravy. I assembled everything and had an excellent leftover dinner.

I watched NCIS and NCIS New Orleans. Both were reruns, but I’d waited all week and needed the fix. I went to bed at 10:00 p.m.
