I overslept on Monday (of course) and barely made it to work
on time. Not a good way to start the day.
It was sunny and warm (48 degrees at the high). The snow
just kept on melting…
I went to Newburgh Grill for lunch and ate a cup of soup and
a patty melt. Then I went to Lowe’s. I picked up a cheap version of the trash
can I wanted at Home Depot, the rest of the drain cleaner I need, a locking
door handle set (for the garage man door – the old one is beat to sh*t and
doesn’t work half the time) and two fluorescent bulbs (for over the washer and
dryer – one burned out).
I had a hell of a time fitting all that in the cab, but I
finally got it.
I spent most of the afternoon trying to stay awake.
When I got home, I left the truck outside to unload it. The
melting snow was now a problem, because it exposed the ice below it on the
driveway. So, I shuffle/skated in with my goodies.
After treating the cat and changing clothes, what I really
wanted to do was take a nap (I hate Daylight Saving Time). Instead, I treated
the rest of the drains. It’s a bit trickier than you might think. Because, you
are supposed to pour HOT water down the drain after 15 minutes of waiting.
Well, if you turn the hot water tap on, first comes cold water!
So, I carried buckets of hot water to each drain and flushed
away the Draino gel. Then I ran each tap for a while.
I watched the last of the evening news. Then I warmed up and
ate the last of the chicken fried rice for dinner.
I had broken down and ordered four DVDs from Amazon a while
back. They came today, so I watched the first one, “The 13th Warrior,”
tonight.
Then I made myself go to bed at 10:00 p.m. I laid there,
tossing and turning for a long time, but refused to read or turn the TV back
on. I need to readjust my internal clock. I eventually fell into a troubled
sleep.
