Winter Rears Its Ugly Head

We had a decent rain overnight when a cold front moved through. The rain was gone by the time I left for work, but the cold hung around all day. We only had a high of 60 degrees here. Couple that with a north wind and low hung clouds and it was a pretty miserable day.

I took the trashcan out to the road and then stopped at Home Depot on the way into work for a battery. When I was at the reunion, Kathy reminded me that she and Joe stopped over, but nobody answered the door. That had happened too many times recently to be a coincidence.

So, I took off the doorbell button and removed the battery. I looked for one at CVS on Monday, but they didn’t have a match. I lucked out and found them at Home Depot, though, so I bought two.

I walked outside both times and was glad to get back inside afterwards!

I went to lunch at the Newburgh Grill with Vicky. I had the bean and ham soup and a patty melt. She had the small Greek salad (don’t let the word “small” fool you).

After work, I dragged the empty garbage can back inside. I was dismayed at the number of leaves the rain brought down on my driveway, LOL!

Speaking of the driveway, one of the things that hasn’t fallen down this year is the green black walnuts. Why? Because there aren’t any!!! Not in my tree or the tree in the vacant lot. First time that’s ever happened (last year was a bumper crop, if you remember). It must have been the weird weather this summer.

Not sure what the squirrels are gonna do…

I replaced the battery in the doorbell buzzer, put it back on and tested it. Bingo!!! No more missed visitors.

I warmed up the last little steak and ear of sweetcorn for dinner.

I got my NCIS fix for the week and went to bed at 10:00 p.m.

  1. That's a bummer! I was looking forward to reports on a full season's use of the Nut Wizard.

  2. I know, right? last year I had a bumper crop and was not prepared. Thanks to you, this year I was prepared, but... nothing!
