Tuesday’s Tale

Tuesday was a raw day, weather-wise. I did get my morning walk outside, but it was raining when I left for lunch.

I went to the Newburgh Grill and got a cup of bean with ham soup and a mini Greek salad. Both were good.

Courtney brought me in some blackberry jam they had canned over the weekend. I love blackberry jam!

Vicky came over and brought me a dish from her Mother. It contained eggplant and salted cod (berenjena y bacaloa) with white rice (arroz blanco) and fried green bananas (guineos).

So, as far as food goes, I was a little spoiled today!!!

It had stopped raining by the time I went home at 5:00 p.m. I took in the trash can, treated Caley and then changed clothes.

I decided to eat my Puerto Rican food tomorrow since my leftovers were older. So, I grabbed the rest of my baby Yukon Gold potatoes. I quartered them and put them in cold, salted water. I got that up to boiling and then turned it to simmer.

I went outside and filled the bird feeder, the squirrel feeder and the suet cage. I grabbed some thyme and flat leaf parsley on the way back in.

I drained the potatoes and splashed them with white vinegar. Then I let them cool. While that was happening, I diced up some celery, grated a carrot, quartered three hard boiled eggs and chopped the parsley. I just stripped the thyme off the stems.

I took a break and went out front to take photos of my Halloween decorations.

Back inside, I mixed up a simple dressing of mayonnaise, yellow mustard, salt, pepper and a little more vinegar. I folded it into the potato salad, covered it and stuck it in the fridge to get cold.

I watched the end of the news. Then I straightened up the kitchen.

Finally, I warmed up three ribs in the microwave. I ate them with a good helping of my potato salad. It was an excellent dinner, albeit a little late, even for me!

I watched NCIS and then went to bed.

  3. Is NCIS code for The Wire because uh we just called it The Wire. Maybe we weren't in the know though because I'm sure if you had any time you'd be watching The Wire... by now, at least.

And yes, the decorations look very festive. I like the "To be continued..." you placed on the PR food.
