Rainy Days and Fridays…

It had rained overnight and was raining still when I woke up on Friday morning. But it was only sprinkling when I left for work. Which was good, as I had to stop and get gas on the way in.

Sidebar: When I figured out my mileage, I found I got over 1.5 miles better than my usual average. I can only attribute that to the road trip out to the family reunion. Other than that, I rarely put on any highway miles.

It started raining again about 9:00 a.m. and followed that off-and-on pattern for the rest of the day. So, in the morning, I walked inside.

I went to Time Out for lunch and that was a mistake. I have never seen it that busy! I got there at just after noon and by 12:15, every table and bar stool was filled. People were walking in, looking around for a seat and then leaving! So lunch (while it was great) took a long time coming, the waitresses (including Dan, the owner) were rushing around, etc. Dan even dropped a tray after bussing a table, causing a huge, broken-glass crash! Not the usual relaxing lunch I was looking for.

The rain took a break long enough in the afternoon that I took my walk outside.

I drove home in light rain. I changed clothes and watched the news until it stopped again.

Then I went out back and finished washing the house. It had started sprinkling and was almost dark before I finished up, but I got ‘er done!

Sidebar: I checked and dumped the rain gauge on my way back inside. I had over 1/2-inch of rain by then.

Back inside, I changed my wet clothes (from both the rain and the spray off the house).

I didn’t have any leftovers or anything thawed, so I made two more personal pizzas. I used up the rest the pepperoni, pizza sauce and mini-pizza crusts so it worked out well.

I watched a little TV, but my arm hurt. Three days waving that wand were taking its toll. So, I went to bed around 10:00 p.m.

  1. I'm glad you got your house finished. I also checked the forecast and you guys have a lot of rain coming next week! I forgot the rainy Falls in Michigan.

  2. I know! I should have fertilized the lawn before all the damn rain, but never got to that. It would have worked perfectly!

  3. Forgot how cold October could be up there. You're about 25 degrees cooler than us. Still remember the brilliance that was filling the hunting tent with straw from somebody's farm over in Gladwin (?) and then sleeping with a running propane heater precariously placed on an old milk crate. Good times.
