It’s August? Really???

What happened to those “lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer?” It’s been a season of cool, overcast days sprinkled in with the occasion hot day. I WANT MY SUMMER!!!

I woke up on Saturday without the alarm at 5:15 a.m. Bummer, but I am a creature of habit.

I eased into the day but finally got out of the house before 9:00 a.m., running errands.

I went to Kroger’s first, then CVS and finally the gas station.

I was back home and had everything put away by11:00 a.m. I took the Dutch oven out of the fridge and put it on the stove on low.

I switched into my shorts and tee shirt and went out to work in the back yard. I weeded the vegetable garden and pulled all the green bean plants. I worked some fertilizer into the soil.  Finally, I hooked up the garden hose to the soaker hose and gave the garden a good watering. Unfortunately, I had missed a call from my sister-in-law, Kathy.

Back inside, I washed up and ate a hearty lunch. I left the rest of the kielbasa, sauerkraut and potatoes on the stove on low for dinner.

Then I went in and laid on the bed, watching some DIY shows. Of course, I fell asleep and took a nice nap. When I woke up, I noticed someone had called, so I checked the voicemail. It was Kathy, saying her and Joe were in the area and would be stopping by to drop off a few glass bottles for my collection. She said if I wasn’t home, they’d leave them on the porch.

So, I went and looked. Sure enough, there was a paper bag with old glass bottles in it. So, I got the bottles, but missed a visit! Dammit!

I called to thank them and got their voicemail!

I got the oscillating sprinkler out of the shed and watered the grass around the patio.

I shut up the shed and pulled my truck inside (I left it out to unload the groceries easier).

I ate the rest of the kielbasa, sauerkraut and potatoes for dinner.

My daughter Melissa called and we had a nice chat.

I swept the kitchen floor and cleaned up the counter. Then I watched some TV, but switched to reading until bedtime.
