Day Five – The Birthday Day!

I woke up late again on Sunday – almost 7:00 a.m.! Everyone else was already up. I got a cup of coffee and listened to the day’s itinerary.  Jake was already prepping food for his birthday dinner.

We all got ready to go and left about 11:00 a.m. Jake had a few stops to make and then we met Carla’s friend and her husband for lunch. We ate at the Tilted Kilt (think Hooter’s, but with short (short!) kilts, knee-high white socks and scoop neckline crop tops) The wait staff (and especially the bartender) were all, young, fit and well-endowed!

My kind of place!

And, the food was good, too!

I had the Irish dip sandwich – thin sliced rib eye steak, with cheese on a crusty bun and a big bowl of au jus with onion rings. Carla and her friend both had the fish and chips (sadly not as good as they would have liked). Jake and her friend’s husband both had different, specialty burgers.

Mine was excellent. It was the first time I had a sandwich here (I could get up North) that tasted right.

We left there and came home. We got there just before 3:00 p.m. Jake and Carla did Jake and Carla things and I took a nap.

When I woke up Jake was just starting dinner. He had the water on to boil for the fresh pasta and was splitting the three lobster tails.

I helped a little, but just giving him bowls to fill.

Dinner was broiled Lobster, enoki and hen of the woods mushrooms with fresh linguini and a lemon parsley sauce.

Dessert was Banana cream cheesecake, purchased at the Cheesecake Factory in Charlotte and smuggled in the house somehow by Jake the day before.

We celebrated by watching not one but two movies: “Jack Reacher” with Tom Cruise and the old horror movie, “Hell Raiser.”

Sidebar: Two interesting things: I have read and am currently reading, the Jack Reacher novels. And, after all this time, I never knew Carla was a fan of horror movies! That explains a lot…

Then we went to bed as Jake had to work in the morning.
