It didn’t look like it rained at all over night when I got up on Tuesday. I got ready for work and then took the garbage out to the road. I didn’t put it out Monday night (as I usually do) as it was windy and, with the suggestion of rain, I figured the can and the bag I had as my offering today might not survive the night.

And I hate to pick up wet trash from the road…

It was an unusually cool day for July. But, it felt wonderful on both my walks – more like a fall day than mid-summer. It eventually got up to 74 degrees F. here, but there was a constant north wind.

I went to the Newburgh grill for lunch. For the first time in a long time, the bean and ham soup was ready! So, I had a cup of that and a gyro for my midday meal.

When I got home after work, I retrieved the trash can and the mail. Then I went inside to treat Caley and change clothes.

First order of business was to gently rub the last coat of polyurethane down with 0000 steel wool to smooth any rough spots. I blew it off and then wiped it off with a cotton rag to clean the minute dust. I’ll let it sit one more night and then apply some paste wax. Once I buff it, it should bring out all the warm tones of the stained wood.

Then I checked the container gardens. Three were still damp, but two others felt dry. So, I watered them. I also checked out the veggie garden and found (to my relief) that I may need to tie up the tomatoes soon.

I heated up some peppers, onions and another brat. I put that one another onion roll, but this time used my new Dusseldorf mustard. I also heated up a can of Bush’s Grillin’ beans and ate some of that for a side dish. Dinner was excellent! The mustard is mysterious. It’s more spicy than hot, but has a tang like Dijon. Thanks again, Carla!

I watched some taped TV but went to bed before 10:00 p.m.
