Tuesday’s Trips

It was -6 degrees here when I woke up Tuesday morning and still windy. I left the house early, as I needed to stop and get some blood drawn for an upcoming doctor’s visit. Since I had to fast from 8:00 p.m. Monday night on, I didn’t get any breakfast or (what’s worse) my usual morning cup of coffee.

I went to the lab and apologized to the nurse for having worn a long sleeve shirt. I debated about it, but decided it was just too cold out. She said she understood…

That taken care of, I went to work.

But, I left again at 10:30 and drove to the dealer. My running boards were in and I needed to get them installed. It took just under an hour, but I brought a book and they had hot coffee, so I didn’t care.

My sales guy drove the truck back out for me and showed me the running boards. I like them! They are sort of matte black and not all that noticeable, which is just what I wanted.

I got back to work just after noon. I was hungry, but I had left Michelle’s Turkey Lemon Rice soup in the little work fridge. So, I warmed up a bowl of that and ate it while I worked. It was excellent, BTW.

Since I worked straight through from noon to 5:00 p.m., the day seemed long. But, finally I was on my way home. It had warmed up (?) to 5 degrees! I took in the trashcan and shut the garage door for the night.

I chatted a bit with Jake (they are having a snow storm) and then watched the NBC Nightly News.

I had noticed that Scruffy has been conspicuously absent since the cold set in. But tonight I discovered where he’s been! He’s been sitting on the shelf in the office, next to the heat register! Smart cat.

I had thawed out a container of my minestrone soup, so I warmed half of that up for my dinner. Unfortunately, elbow macaroni, like most other pastas, doesn’t freeze well (turns mushy). So tonight’s soup was nowhere as good as when I first made it.

I watched the Red Wings game (we got creamed) and then a taped TV show until bedtime.

  1. Do the running boards help?

  2. Yes, once I figured out how to use them with my crip "entrance."
