I woke up to the alarm on Monday morning. Since I know the
furnace parts store opens at 8:00 a.m., I sent a text to my boss, letting her
know I would be a little late. I ran though the morning rituals and was at the
store at 8:00 a.m. Unfortunately, I beat the employees in. But, they were soon
there and I was headed back home with a new igniter.
I put on some rubber gloves before I even opened the box.
Then I swapped out the igniter, checked all the connections and turned the
furnace on…
Nothing!
I called Scott to see where he would be today.
Unfortunately, they are working up in Lapeer all day. But, they have a furnace
install in the area Tuesday morning. So, I asked him to call when they were
done and said I’d meet them here. I got to work at 8:50 a.m.
Since I know that, in these milder temperatures, a tank of
propane lasts about 24 hours, I went home at lunch. I stopped at the corner gas
station and got a fresh tank, first. Then I went home and sure enough, the
heater was off. I switched tanks and washed some of the many dirty dishes from
yesterday’s cooking.
Then I headed back and swapped out the other empty propane
tank. The guy was amused, but, at $21.20 per tank, I was not. I stopped at
Jimmy John’s and got a turkey sandwich for my lunch. I cut it in half, ate one
half and stuck the other half in our mini-fridge. I don’t know how lunch tomorrow
will go, but at least I have a bite to eat, in any case.
I took the expressway home after work. My God, these
potholes are growing! When I got home, I
treated the cats and then went to assembling the trash. I took out the trashcan
to the road and then hauled out the dishwasher box.
I ate a meatloaf sandwich for my dinner while I watched the
rest of the news. Then I gave my friend B___ a call to check in. I hadn’t
talked to him since before getting the sewer fixed, so I did most of the
talking.
I watched some TV but went to bed by 10:00 p.m.
