It was cool again at the start of Thursday, but warmed up
quickly. Unfortunately, the wind picked up mid-morning and it was pretty breezy
in the afternoon.
I had to go over near Telegraph Road at lunchtime, so I
swung into Popeye’s and got two pieces of spicy fried chicken, a biscuit and
some red beans and rice. I ate them at home and they were great! I love me some
red beans and rice!!
Michelle had brought in a big bowl of tomatoes from her
Mother’s garden. After everyone took what they wanted, I took the rest home to
process with mine.
After work, I hurried through treating and clothes-changing,
then went out to cut the front and side lawn with the push mower. No, it wasn’t
that long, but I needed it short for
my next step. I raked all the bald spots and then put down grass seed.
I used up the rest of the patch seed in the front lawn. For
the rest (the majority) of the bare spots, I put down Pennington grass seed
without filler. I have a LOT of lawn to reseed and can’t afford to buy the “patch”
seed for all of it.
Then I dragged the hose out to the front and watered all the
seeded areas. Since I will have to do this for the next 10 days, I didn’t
rewind the hose. I just dragged it back behind the fence where it couldn’t be seen
from the road. I put the rake back in the shed, locked it up and went inside.
Unfortunately, it was almost 8:00 p.m. before I got back
inside. So, really processing the tomatoes tonight was impossible. But, I have
to do something (I had to throw three away already). So, I took out the blender
and pureed them in batches, skin and all. I did cut the core out of the big
ones. I put the juice in a big bowl and stuck it in the fridge. I rinsed out the
blender (I’ll wash it tomorrow) and then warmed up the rest of the fried
cabbage and sausage for my dinner.
I watched one taped show and then went to bed.
