Thursday was an absolutely gorgeous day! It was a high of 80 degrees F. with just moderate humidity. A nice, light breeze was blowing from the north.
A weird thing had happened when I walked outside first thing this morning. A huge limb had fallen off the maple and was lodged against the tree box planter. I took a couple of photos for you before lugging it into the lot next door (the tree is technically on my absent neighbor’s lot, although I cut around it so my yard looks nice). It was heavy! I can’t believe something that big didn’t take out the electrical power line on its way down (maybe it bounced off of it).
Work was frustrating for a variety of reasons. But I persevered, knowing this was my last day this week.
At lunch, I attempted to warm up the meatballs and spaghetti in the microwave. This didn’t work so well. The spaghetti was hotter than the hubs of hell (a favorite saying) but the cheese inside the meatball was still cold. I need to figure this out if I want to eat up the remaining leftovers.
Once home after running an errand (I went over to Lowe’s in Westland and bought a faucet stem for my still-leaking kitchen faucet), I treated the cats, changed clothes and dealt with miscellaneous things.
One thing I did was to laminate the fishing license I’d bought online yesterday. I went to stick it in my tackle box and found two old ones, one for me and one for Jake, from 2004. Oh, yeah, we are avid fishermen!
About 7:30 PM, I began to get hungry. This time I decided to forego the microwave and put the remaining spaghetti and two meatballs in a saucepan. I added more marinara sauce and tried to simmer it warm. I let it simmer for over an hour...
Nope! So, unless you readers have another idea, I am marking this recipe as a one-time only event. If you have a large group to feed, this is a great idea. But, if it’s just you, forget these particular meatballs. That center of delicious, gooey cheese when you first make them is just a cold, cheesy rubber ball when you heat them up...
I watched a few taped shows and went to bed early.
