Wet Wednesday

It was still raining when I woke up on Wednesday. I ate some oatmeal with another banana for breakfast, then I shaved, showered and got dressed for my IV.

Sidebar: Did I ever tell you just how much I HATE bananas?

When I got to the doctor's office, I turned my phone to vibrate (like I always do - Amanda usually calls me on her way into work and I don't want to annoy the other patients.)

Sidebar: They told me to not use my cholesterol medicine, atorvastatin, while I was getting my infusions. Apparently, the combination will wreak havoc on my kidneys. Um...  nice to know about a week or so, later.

I stopped by Kroger's on the way home to get some mushrooms. Then I backtracked to Farmington to drop off the cable box, router and the remote. I am officially done with Brighthouse/Spectrum. Seriously? $160 bucks a month for basic cable and internet? I asked for a deal as I was now on a fixed income and they they said basically, "Fuck you." So, I switched to WOW and saved $50.00 for the next two years.

I got the mail. It was just more doctor bills. I had already hit up my saving to cover the last round, but I tapped into another $200.00 to pay more bills.

Sidebar: This is killing me... and I haven't even paid off my infusions, yet. I literally can't afford to be healthy.

I missed Amanda's morning call. So, I called her back. She was already at Time Out and refilling mayonnaise cups, lol!

She is going to the Ten-man county concert she won those tickets for on Thursday. Her seats are up in the balcony (which is too bad as she has a real fear of heights - she's never flown on an airplane, for example) and was trying to borrow some binoculars. I told her I had some that I used for hunting and bird watching. I said I would lend them to her as long as she didn't lose them in the mosh pit. You know how crazy these country concerts can be!

I sauteed the mushrooms in some butter. Then I pulled them off and set them aside. I added some olive oil and sauteed a sliced onion. I ate about half of the mushrooms while I waited for the onions to soften.

Sidebar: I am sure I have told you this in the past, but I love mushrooms. A farmer used to pay my dad to do his taxes with boxes of mushrooms (that's what he grew) and my Mom would fry them up and we feasted on them.

I pulled off the onions and browned a pound of ground chuck. When that was done, I poured off the grease and added back the onions and mushrooms and a jar of  Bertolli tomato and basil sauce (It was in my pantry and I was too tired to make anything then).

I made some thick spaghetti (I dislike the thin stuff like angel hair) and put the sauce into the pasta, I ate two big bowls, but realized I will have to eat this for the next week or so...

I missed yet another phone call from Amanda. That's when I realized I never turned the damn phone off of vibrate. I called her back and apologized..

I watched the Olympics until I fell asleep.

  1. re: "Sidebar: Did I ever tell you just how much I HATE bananas?" I do remember, they were excellent....fresh, and dirty. but delicious....never will forget

  2. No! They are mushy and have an odd taste. I seriously hate them. They rank up there with avocados. Slimy ass mush shit!!!
