Hump Day

I woke up to the alarm on Wednesday. The visiting nurse was scheduled to come at 10:00 a.m. So, I ate breakfast, took my pills, did my antibiotics and had a second cup of coffee. I shaved and was headed downstairs in just my robe and slippers to take a shower when the doorbell rang. It was 9:15!!!

So, I answered the door. She apologized but said she got out early from her last appointment. I said, "Come on in. but let me get some clothes on." She did and I did. Then I sat in my lift chair while she did her thing. She was done and gone before 10:00 a.m.

Sidebar: Blood pressure good, temperature normal, heart rate excellent, lungs clear and pic sight fine.

Vicky was supposed to come over (it's her day off) but she forgot she had volunteered for some all-day thing at Yanessa's school. So, we agreed we'd get together on her next day off. She said it was cold and snowing a little on the west side where she lives.

I ate the other half of the cantaloupe for lunch. I had some plain Greek yogurt (with active cultures) that I bought yesterday for dessert.

Sidebar: I learned from the nurse that all this throwing up and diarrhea is caused by the antibiotics, as I suspected. It seems it not only (hopefully) kills the infection, but also kills the good bacteria in your intestines. Yogurt with active cultures helps to reverse that process.

I can't tell you how many days I have gone to bed thinking, "Tomorrow, I'm going to clean the house!" And, every morning I wake up, tired and a bit dizzy and think, "Not today..."

But, today I was determined to at least clean the stove top. So, I did. I haven't done it in a while and it took a lot of elbow grease.

I also washed the bedding and did a load of clothes.

All that tuckered me out. I laid down, but couldn't fall asleep. I thought about getting the mail, but it was gloomy and looked cold, so I decided it could wait until tomorrow, when I have to go out anyway.

When I got tired of trying to take a nap, I got up and read in the living room with my chair reclined and the cat in my lap. I did finally doze off there, but for less than 15 minutes.

Amanda sent me a text, asking if I needed her to drop off anything on her way home, I told her thanks, but I really didn't need anything.

I ate more tuna pasta salad for dinner. The pasta had sucked up a lot of the dressing (as it always does overnight) so I added more mayonnaise.

Sidebar: I really like this recipe! But, if you are going to try it, I forgot to mention adding the juice of half a lemon to the dressing mixture.

I didn't see anything worth a damn on TV. I would have tried On Demand or even Netflix, but my remote has been acting up and some of the buttons don't work. So, after my nightly antibiotic fix, I just read in the living room again. This time I turned the fireplace on. Blanket in place, cat on my lap, it was quite cozy. I thought, "I really am turning into my mother!" but decided that wasn't so bad.

I watched the 11:00 p.m. news and the monologue on the Tonight Show and then wen to bed.
