Slow Sunday

I woke up for good at 4:45 a.m. (my usual time if not for the time change).

Sidebar: Why??? Why do we still do this stupid time change? I dunno.

It was very foggy out, BTW. I grabbed a cup of coffee and tried to drink it while laying down. That was a mistake! I slopped some on my top sheet and pillowcase. Dammit! So, I put them in the washer and hunted up towels, etc., so I didn't waste the detergent or dryer time.

Sidebar: I'm pretty sure its related to too much walking in the cold yesterday, but today is the first time in a long time I've had to use the cane in the house.

I was checking out the fridge for breakfast when I noticed my milk would expire tomorrow. What can I make for breakfast that will use up milk? French toast came to mind, but I eat waffles once or twice a week.

Sounds stupid as I write it, but I settled for the blue box mac & cheese, LOL! I at most of it watching the Sunday morning news shows. At 10:00 a.m., I stopped to shave shower and get dressed in stay-at-home work clothes.

I put on my gloves, grabbed some steel wool and started in on the paint drips on the cradle. An hour later, I gave up. It's just not working as good as I want. No, I am NOT a perfectionist, but I don't want to put out crap when I'm trying to get more paying work.

Just after noon, the thunder started up again. Before it rained, I went out and got Saturday's mail and then took two pictures.

Most of the leaves on my maples fell when still green (a result of the drought this summer, I'm told). The few that are left are finally starting to turn now.

But, nothing comes close to the Japanese maple over the reflecting pool.

Back inside, I made another BLT for my lunch. The tomato was getting a bit soft, but the sandwich still tasted good.

I laid down for a long while, watching TV and resting my leg. My brother Carl called to check in. He said I was stupid for walking that much in the cold and the damp. He's probably right.

It was still raining. Not the hard rain of yesterday, but a steady one.

I went back to watching TV, but fell asleep. No problem. My daughter, Melissa's call woke me up.

As usual, we talked a long time. When we hung up, I went out and warmed up the leftover spaghetti, after adding the rest of the leftover sauce. I also made a salad with just lettuce and tomato, along with Italian dressing.

The salad was a refreshing palate cleanser and, even reheated, the spaghetti tasted great.

I couldn't eat all that spaghetti (I must have saved three meals, not the two I thought). So, the leftovers were cooled and went back in the fridge for another meal.

I watched TV until bedtime.
