I'm so pissed!!!

On Wednesday, I realized the one thing I forgot to do on Tuesday was to get my flu shot. So, I shaved, showered and got dressed in town clothes. I left at 9:00 a.m. (when the pharmacy opens) and walked in.

Sidebar: I drove there and back in a light, misty rain. That was the remnants of Hurricane Irma, as displayed in Michigan,  according to the weatherman.

What I didn't realize was that, until 10:30 a.m., there is only one pharmacist. So, I had to wait a bit for people dropping off or picking up scripts. But that's the danger of walk-ins, I guess.

I signed several forms and got a ton of printed off information. I have to pay for this myself and I guess that's why.

Back home, I treated the cat and changed into more comfortable clothes.

Sidebar: Speaking of clothes, as much as I hate the thought, I may have to buy more pants. The ones I used to wear to work are getting too big and continually threaten to fall down (I have no butt to hold them up). Since leaving work, I have lost an amazing 20 pounds! Luckily, I won't need as many, just a couple of pairs.

I had a birthday card to mail so, after the sun came out, I walked it out to the mailbox. On the way back inside, it struck me just how long my grass was getting. WTF? Then it dawned on me I hadn't see the grass cutters in a while.

Sidebar: I had noticed that last month, but I thought they didn't bother. The lack of rain had left the lawn burnt up, so I figured they just thought there was no point.

So, I went inside to call and complain. I got the number from my little address book and called. I got the standard recording, "You have reached this number in error. Please check the number and try again." So, I did. Same thing!

So, I Googled JonBoy Landscaping. They didn't have a website, but I got the short, Yahoo description. Yep, I had the number right. Then I noticed at the bottom of the blurb, it said something like, "No longer at this location" or "No longer in business."

Wait, what? They went out of business a couple of months ago, but didn't tell me? No phone call, no letter? I have been a loyal user for like 10 years. I even paid them a small fortune to put those flagstones around my front gardens. I paid them for leaf cleanup in the Fall. I never missed a payment. And you guys just sneak off without mentioning it???

I was pissed!!!

When I calmed down, I thought, "What do I do now?"

At first I thought, "Hell, I'll just cut it myself if I can get the mowers to work." Then I thought, "Who are you kidding? You could probably cut the back grass on the riding mower. But no way could you walk the front yard with the push mower."

So, I went to Home Advisor and picked the three closest landscape companies to me with the best reviews. I tried calling all three and just got voicemail. So, I used the webite form to send them all emails, asking for a quote.

One of the companies (Something or another landscaping and tree service) did call me back. The guy said they no longer did grass cutting or landscaping, only tree removal.  One down, two to go.

It was sprinkling again when I went out to get the mail at 4:30 p.m.

I ate the last of the egg noodles for dinner. I started watching some TV, but fell asleep around 8:00 pm. I slept until 1:00 a.m. Then I couldn't fall back asleep until 3:00 a.m.

  1. Your luck never ceases to amaze me. Sorry your grass cutter skipped town.

  2. I know, right??? Shouldn't have pissed God off when I was younger...
