Then it was Thursday

It was cold and windy with some sort of wet mist on the first of December.

Sidebar: The mist was annoying. I was unable to determine if it was snow or rain. And, it wasn't enough to turn the wipers on "intermediate" but you had to hit them occasionally. This continued all damn day long.

I went to lunch at Big Boy's. Not sure why, but I ordered what they call their Denver omelet (diced ham, onions and green peppers with cheese). It was delicious, but I couldn't eat all the hash browns or toast.

When I left for home, there were cars and trucks stopped in the north bound lanes of Levan south of Commerce! They were waiting on the world's longest train that was moving at about five miles per hour. What to do?

Sidebar: If only I'd turned right and gone to Plymouth Road...

Instead, I got into the turn lane and drove past all the cars and trucks. I turned left at the light before the train tracks and went to Newburgh.

Sidebar: Newburgh goes under the train tracks.

From there I got onto Schoolcraft (the I-96 service drive). But when I approached the ramp to I-96, all I saw were a sea of taillights. I-96 looked like a parking lot!

So, I stayed on Schoolcraft, like everyone else. It was a slow go. So, when I got to Stark Road, I got off. I couldn't go back to Plymouth Road because of the damn train. So, I wound through neighborhoods at 25 mph until I finally got to Five Mile Road. I took that to Beech Daly (which also goes under the train track) and from there went to Plymouth Road and back to San Jose.

All in all, my normal 10 minute trip took more than 30 minutes!

I baked a small pizza for my dinner and ate two pieces while watching the hockey game. Then I went to bed.
