The Saturday Story

After a beautiful day on Friday, the bottom fell out, weather-wise.  I think the high temperature was at 12:01 a.m. and it just kept dropping from there.

I woke up late (didn't set the alarm) so I had to hustle to make my 9:00 a.m. haircut. My barber had called me on Friday afternoon to warn me they were doing some water main work at the corner of Five Mile and Merriman and it might be difficult to get to the barber shop.

She was right! The cops had the whole intersection blocked off. So, I ducked into the strip mall, l got into the alley behind it and took that to the barber shop. Good Lord!

But, I got my haircut!

It was a light rain when I walked out of the barber shop.

I went north on Merriman to Six Mile and took that to Middle Belt. Then I went south to Schoolcraft and Costco.

Sidebar: It was lucky I ate lunch with Vicky last week. She gave me back my Costco card. I had let her borrow it to buy water for Yanessa's birthday party back in July! I forgot all about it.

So, I bought some peanuts for the squirrels, some toilet paper and some paper towels (both in huge packages). Luckily, the rain had stopped, so I tossed the TP and paper towels in the truck bed and drove home.

I unloaded everything and then, since I had my coat still on, went out back and put some of the peanuts in the squirrel feeder. It was freakin' cold and windy.

I went inside and shucked my coat. Then I changed out of my clothes. I wasn't going anywhere else in this cold!!!

Sidebar: I usually can adapt to the weather changes when it happens slowly. But 71 degrees one day and 31 the next is brutal.

I did a load of laundry and fired the dishwasher up. Domestic chores done, I took a nap.

When I woke up, it was snowing!!! Didn't stick on the grass, but was covering the raised bed herb garden and the Chargriller cover. I was hungry. So, I warmed up the rest of the chicken fried rice and ate that watching the news.

I whined a little to Victoria on Facebook about my rehab situation. She basically told me to cheer up, shut up and go to rehab.

Sidebar: Puerto Rican's are very sensitive, LOL!

Then I watched some forgettable TV until bedtime.

Good! The phrase, "Worse than some, better than most" comes to mind.
