Back to the Grind

It was freakin' cold Monday morning and didn't really warm up much all day.

Obviously, it was great to be back at work after four days off...

My new cane had come in while I was home, so I opened it up. It looked nice and felt solid (it's oak). But its about two inches too long. They recommend cutting it to length, so I'll do that when I'm feeling better. I'll also take a picture when I'm home.

I went to the Newburgh Grill for lunch. I got the beef vegetable soup and a mini-Greek salad.

The afternoon passed slowly and I was very tired. Four days of napping does not prepare you for nine - ten hours of staying awake.

Back at home, I should have been bustling around, getting the trash together for tomorrow's pickup. Instead, I laid on the bed and watched the news, occasionally dozing.

I finally got up at 7:00 p.m. and reheated a plate of the corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots. I kicked it up a notch by adding a tablespoon of horseradish on the side as a dipping sauce.

I took the cane photo for you, but couldn't quite capture the detail work. Sorry! :(

I couldn't find anything interesting to watch on TV, so I caught up on more taped DIY shows, while occasionally dozing.

Sidebar: I know now that I'm getting older. 20 years ago, having a minor surgery would not have kicked my butt this much!!!

I ended up watching the monologue on the Tonight Show, then shut everything down for the night and went to bed.

  1. How was he on the show? The Monologue used to be one of my favorite super heroes. Far more social than his sidekick, The Soliloquy
