It was supposed to be freezing rain at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday.
But, when I woke up, it didn’t look like it was raining (or snowing) at all.
However, when I pulled out of the driveway, there was a thin
coating of ice and snow on San Jose. But, when I got to Plymouth Road, it was
just wet. I guessed they had salted it.
So, it was, like the New York blizzard of 2015, a nonevent. At
least, that’s what I thought…
It switched to all snow, but the temperature was above
freezing and the snow just kept melting.
I had planned on just going to Time Out for lunch, but Vicky
asked me what I was doing. So, I told her. She said she needed to get out (she
had a stressful morning). I suggested a new restaurant (New Mexico) on Ford
Road I’d heard about on the news. She suggested the combination Hispanic
grocery store/restaurant that Michelle, her and I went to a while back. I told
her I couldn’t remember the name, but she did. I Googled it.
So we snuck out (Daryl had asked her to go to Buddy’s, but
she had declined, saying she brought her lunch). No sense in hurting his
feelings.
We went to Dos Hermanos Restaurant on
Ford Road in Westland. It’s a tiny place, half Hispanic grocery store and half
restaurant, with very little parking. But, we lucked out and got a spot.
She ordered (in Spanish) the Torta de
Pollo: a huge Mexican sandwich of grilled chicken, served on a Mexican roll
with onions, tomatoes, jalapeños and lettuce.
I ordered (in English) the Enchiladas
Rojas: Three rolled corn tortilla filled with your choice of meat, beef,
chicken or pork (I took beef). It was smothered in homemade red enchilada sauce
and topped with cheese, served with beans and rice.
It was WAY too much food
(for me) but I kept on eating it.
Sidebar: When will I ever learn?
We snuck back into work and I spent
the rest of the day burping.
The snow started to stick. So, I
checked the roads on Goggle Maps around 3:00 p.m. and they showed I-96 as slow.
Plymouth Road was just as slow. Crap!
But, by 5:00 p.m., Google Maps show
I-96 as fast again. So they must have plowed and/or salted.
Note: I think if the temperature was
colder, we would have gotten a significant amount of snow on the ground (it
snowed all day). But, with all the melting, I doubt there was a half inch accumulation.
I got home five minutes late. I
treated Caley and then went into the bedroom to change my clothes. She had
barfed on the blanket! Nice… So, I cleaned it off and stuck it in the washer.
Back in the bedroom, changing clothes, I realized the barf had soaked though onto
the bedspread. Damn!
So, when the first load was in the
dryer, I started a second. I may never get to sleep tonight!
I turned on the Red Wings game, just
before the scored their first goal and tied the game. So, I was excited. But,
we got our butts kicked 5-1.
I was still full from lunch, so I
ate dinner late. I microwaved a sweet potato and ate that with butter and salt.
The bedspread was finally dried (it
takes two times in the dryer) so I remade the bed and went to sleep.
Thanks...
ReplyDeleteLol. John the torta del poll is not a grilled chicken. Its a breaded chicken. Daryl like John said dont take it personal. Didnt feel like having Buddy's. It was a last minute choice. Vicky
ReplyDeleteMy baby brother is such a trouble maker. Sorry Daryl and Vicky. He's been like that for years....No changing him now!
