Memorial Day

It was Memorial Day on Monday. I would like to take a brief moment to thank all those who have served, are serving now and, of course, their families who make their own kind of sacrifice for my  (and your) freedom. Thank you all.

It was my last full day in lovely South Carolina. It was the first day that you could feel the heat, although not yet any real  humidity.

By personal request, it was yet another day of resting and relaxing.

We did do lunch at a local pub and had a variety of wings (Parmesan and ranch, hot, Jamaican jerk and Thia chili) and, (something I never had before) fried pickles! I think I liked the Jamaican Jerk wings the best and, despite my misgivings, I found I love fried pickles. Fried pickles are now up here with naked, er, I mean raw fries. Southerners may be bat-shit crazy, but they make good food! (Don't tell my doctor about the fried pickles, okay?)

We played Skip-Bo (a card game I lost) and Scrabble (ditto). I took the dog for several walks, which pleased both her and my back.

For dinner, we went over to Carla's brother's house for a Memorial Day cook out. There was a ton of food, but I only (ONLY, LOL) took some damn-good beans, some (famous, I heard) pasta salad, a burger (well-done, but oh, well) and a red-hot link sausage. Sadly, there were no fried pickles... We left just in time before I made a total pig out of myself (again, this is nothing we have to share with my doctor, okay?)

Later that night, back at home, we watched a comic on TV I never heard of who was hilarious!

Knowing  I had to get up early, I went to bed at 10:00 PM. What I didn't know was that I missed the first new episode of Longmire. Dammit!
