This and That

It was overcast Tuesday morning when I left for work, but not raining and it was supposed to clear up later. And, it did.

When I left at lunchtime, the sun was out and it was just right as far as temperature goes. I headed out on an errand run. I stopped at Michaels first and ordered the frame for the Orion picture. Why am I having a custom frame made? Because I need four inches of mat board around all sides of the photo and normal picture frames aren’t made like that. I had already been to Michaels before (I think I mentioned that) and picked everything out, so it didn’t take too long to lighten my wallet.

Then I went to CVS and picked up my prescriptions. Next to CVS is a little Chinese/Szechuan take-out place. So, I went in there and ordered a pint of pork-fried rice and a container of won ton soup. Then I drove back to work.

I still had about 20 minutes of lunchtime left, so I ate my takeout and surfed the Web.

In the afternoon, I finally talked to Michelle’s (from IT) minister’s wife, Bonnie (we’ve been playing phone tag). I had put the word out weeks ago to everyone I knew that I had the lift chair available to anyone who needs it. You may remember the “non-response” I got from Easter Seals (who are supposedly dedicated to helping the handicapped).

Well, it turned out that Bonnie’s mother (who is 80) is suffering from Alzheimer’s and recently had a heart attack. It takes two people to get her out of her own chair at home, so Bonnie was thrilled to hear about the lift chair. She’s going to get a couple of her nephews and a truck and pick it up this weekend. I was glad I could “pay it forward” and pass along something that I really needed (and appreciated when I needed it) to someone else who needs it now.

When 5:00 PM came, Michelle (from Facilities) pulled her car next to mine and I gave her the materials for the seamstress. LOL, it was like a drug deal! She’ll drop them off to her tonight. I thanked Michelle for her help and drove home.

I walked out back to check the gauge and found we’d gotten 1/2 inch of rain yesterday. While I was out there, I noticed something “funny-looking” in the grass. I walked over and found a profusion of weird mushrooms right over the area where I had the old maple cut down years ago. I took a picture for you.

For dinner, I warmed up one of the brats and the beans from Sunday’s supper. I used the baguette again for my buns, but this time I dug out some of the bread. Much better!

But, the baguette was already getting hard, suggesting using it on Wednesday for the last brats may be doubtful.

I watched some TV until the cable went out around 9:00 PM. It was only off about five minutes, but it was enough to break my concentration. So, I switched to reading, but fell asleep before 10:00 PM.
