Rainy day...

It was raining when I woke up Monday morning, but I wasn’t complaining. We really could use some soaking rains around here. Everything I transplanted keeps wilting and I have to keep watering it, hoping it will take in its new home.

But, I was sad to see that new car look I had going get splashed to pieces. Nothing lasts forever, I guess.

I did make it to Lowe’s at lunch. This time, however, I made a quick pit stop at the Newburgh Grill and just ordered a bowl of vegetable beef soup (which comes right away).

But, I wasn’t that lucky at Lowe’s. I’d already tried to find the same shelves that I have in the kitchen and downstairs for the office at Home Depot. They didn’t have them, so I thought I must have gotten them at Lowe’s.

But they didn’t have them anymore, either! Nothing even close. So, I made an executive decision and bought another style white shelf. Since the downstairs has become a store room, more or less, I’ll put the white shelf (if only they had cream – but I could paint it I suppose) down there and take the good shelf for the office.

It was raining hard again on the way home (it seems to be coming in waves, rather than a good old-fashion all day rain). So, when it had let up a bit, I hurried out to get the trash to the road. The garbage men won’t like me much as I had a lot of cardboard boxes I put out that will be soaked by the time they go to pick them up.

Back inside, I turned my attention to the shelving project. I was hoping the attachment screws would be the same and they were, sort of. The new shelf only uses two screws (one per bracket – It’s much more cheaply made) and the old one used four (two per bracket). Of course, I couldn’t pull out the drywall anchors and reuse them.

So, I did get the new shelf in place. But I had to put relocating the old one on hold while I get more screws and anchors. I do have it all marked out level on the wall, so it should go smoothly after I get to Home Depot.

I reheated the last ears of corn for my dinner in the microwave. I think I’ll save the other steak for tomorrow’s supper. I watched some TV but went to bed around 9:30 PM.
