I woke up, but just barely, to the 5:30 AM alarm on Monday morning. And. I can say this conclusively, it's my own damn fault. You see, I started to fade out watching "The Next Iron Chef" at 9:00 PM on Sunday night. But, I really (really) wanted to watch "Iron Chef America" at 10:00 PM. So, I reheated the morning coffee and had a cup.
Well, so there I was at like 1:00 AM, vibrating and completely unable to sleep. NOT GOOD! So, the best I could muster was a fitful sleep, punctuated by really bad dreams (there's always somebody trying to catch me and kill me) and waking me up every hour or so. I'd describe the dreams, but you would probably use my stories to have me locked up. Needless to say there is a lot of angst, (I'm always running and hiding), blood and guts... Thank God for my shotgun (that sucker does seem to level the playing field, lol).
Work, for a change was a bit interesting (I won't bore you with details, but I need to procure a Windows server and a snap server to back it up for an off-site building). But I did have to drink a LOT more coffee about 2:00 PM, just to stay focused.
When I left work it was 60 degrees F., semi-cloudy with a rather stiff South-East wind.
I had been dreading bailing out the reflecting pool (I really shouldn't spend the money for a new drill motor pump) when it hit me this morning! I still have the fountain pump for the bird bath Jake gave me.
So, after I treated the cats (I give them less, these days) and changed my clothes, I grabbed the pump with an extension cord and went outside.
So, first I used my net to get out all the floating leaves, shredded mulch, etc., and then I got all the river rocks out of the way. Then I threw in the gizmo and pumped it as dry as I could (there is still about one inch of water remaining).
Then I threw in a short (chiminea) log (the same principal of my neighbors or Jake's winter pool thing, where the expanding water crushes the balloon, or in my case, the dried wood log) instead of busting out the galvanized tub (or the above ground pool). I covered that with the plastic-covered plywood and a block of concrete.
Back inside, I warmed up the last of the sausage and sauerkraut for my dinner and I watched TV until bedtime.
