Well, yesterday night was interesting! About a year ago, Carla's brother had offered them a car (Isuza Impulse) that he was restoring. At that time, they decided to stick with the lower cost of owning only one vehicle. But, this fall and winter, Carla's schedule at college is such that this is no longer practical. So, they accepted her brother's offer.
They found a car hauler to pick it up in South Carolina and deliver it to my house (their apartment complex not being car hauler friendly). This was supposed to happen on Wednesday.
But, the guy called Jake around 5:30 PM last night and said he was at Middlebelt and I-96 (about four miles from me). So, Jake got Carla and they came over. Meanwhile I talked with the driver and his wife when they got there.
The guy had a pickup with a fifth wheel and trailer. The trailer held four cars, and one of the cars he had to take off to get to the Impulse was a beautiful 1968 Ford Cougar convertible. I had people stopping in their vehicles and coming out of the townhouses to look at that car. It was like a block party or something.
Things finally quieted down around 8:00 PM. I heated up the leftover linguine with clam sauce for dinner and watched TV.
